How to Fix a Clogged Kitchen Sink in New Orleans

How to Fix a Clogged Kitchen Sink in New OrleansAll of us, at one time or another, have experienced the frustration of having a clogged sink. And as luck would have it, that usually seems to happen when the sink is full of dirty dishes we need to take care of.
There are a few simple things that can be tried before calling your favorite plumber to come to your rescue. Hopefully one of these will let you get back to finishing up those kitchen chores.
How Do I Unclog My Kitchen Sink?
First, empty out your sink of any objects to give yourself some room to work with. And just to make sure … run your garbage disposal. Sometimes the easiest solution really does work!
Next, reach for that plunger. Very often a good plunging of a sink can be just enough force to allow both the water and clog to get moving again.
Baking soda and vinegar. This is a well known combination of household products that can be effective at working on clogs, while still being safe for your pipes. For this you are going to need to remove any standing water in the sink. Pour a cup of baking soda into the drain, then a cup of vinegar. When the bubbling from the mixture ends, put a stopper in the drain, wait about 15 minutes and then try running hot water to see if the clog clears. It may be necessary to try this a couple of times before knowing if it is going to work.
P-trap. Open up the cabinet under your sink and look for your pipe with a curve in it. You are going to be loosening the connection there, so be sure to place a bucket under it to catch any water or debris that comes out. Remove the nuts, twist the ring and let the contents drop into your bucket. Take a look inside and see if there is anything more that may be causing the clog. Reassemble the p-trap and try running water through it.
